Sizing Guide

Why is it so important to get your breast pump sizing right?

Ensuring the right flange and insert size for your breast pump is key for both comfort and effective milk expression. Using an incorrect flange size can cause discomfort, pain, and even reduce milk output.

Our pumps are designed to work with breasts of all shapes and sizes! Just make sure you’re wearing a supportive bra to keep the pump securely in place, and that you’re using the correct flange size based on your measurements.

**Please don’t rely on the flange size you used with a different breast pump, as sizing can vary widely between brands and models.

For the best fit, start with our fitting guide below. While measurements can help a lot, finding the right flange/insert size may take some trial and error. Whilst trialing we recommend using nipple balm or coconut oil to avoid any discomfort.

Steps to finding the right size

Measuring whilst pregnant

To ensure you have your breast pump ready when you need it when baby comes, we recommend buying the standard 24mm for the S12 Pro+

The Elevate of course comes with a standard 25mm flange + three flange inserts you may need!

Once baby is born you can purchase any additional inserts if needed by following the steps below.

Measuring Postpartum

Always measure before a feed or pumping session.

1. Measure the width of your nipple in mm as shown in the image above.

2. Make sure to measure both sides as each side can actually be different!

It is also common for nipple sizes to change at around 8-12 weeks postpartum. If you are finding discomfort or less volume in production we recommend remeasuring around this time.

What size do I need?

Once you have measured using the steps above, please use the table provided below to determine whether or not you need to use an insert.

Signs you have correctly sized your wearable breast pump

Nipple movement: Your nipple should move in and out freely within the flange tunnel without pain or air gaps.

Areola involvement: Only a small portion of your areola should be drawn into the flange.

Comfort: You should not experience any discomfort or pain during pumping.

Nipple condition: Your nipples should appear healthy without redness, blisters, or cracks after pumping.
